Anonymous said...: 'capitalized her' after the underline sentence modifies beatrix potter. so A D E are out. only B and C. 'them' in B is object referring to the subject they, so 'them' has no reference. ambigous. so C it is. also. 'which' in C is correct as the infor after 'which' is a non essential clause.

Remove the 'in her book illustrations'. The sentence should be valid even without this modifier, which is not the case here.

Beatrix Potter[, in her book illustrations,] carefully coordinating them with her narratives, capitalized on her keen observation and love of the natural world.

Btw C and D,

In C, sentence construction '...,Beatrix Potter, capatalized on her keen.." looks better than the sentence construction '...,in her book illustrations, capitalized on her keen...' in D.

However, I am not very sure if there is any grammitical mistake in 'C'.

As per C - It is SHE, Beatrix Potter, who carefully coordinated the book illustrations. So, it is the correct choice while in B, book illustrations incorrectly modify carefully coordinating; April 08, 2010 8:57 AM
