How I answered it:
Split #1: For vs. With
For explains the previous statement, but With is in conjunction with the previus statement. Since we are planing why the speaker used map to clarify directional terms, we need to use "For". That eliminates C, and D.
Split #2: Was knowledgeable vs. knew vs. Did not know
Used is past tense - this elimnates (B) because know is present tense.
Knew = "Was knowledgeable". Therefore "E".
