Can anybody explain OA.
2000 years can not be completed with 'as old as....'. It should be 2000 years 'older than ...'
could anybody explain why not D? what is the difference between "supposed" and "supposedly" ?
thanks..
descriptive words that end in an -ly must describe a verb. in this case, supposed is being used as an adjective describing a noun "Meditterean predecessors"
sorry guys, the answer is D.
supposed is an adjective, which would have to modify the noun predecessors not the adjective Mediteranean.
but supposedly is an adverb which can modify an verb, adjective or another adverb.

Sorry uglyguywithnomoney but the answer is definitely B. In D, "supposedly" modifies Mediterranean, not "predecessors": this is wrong. These were not supposedly Mediterranean. They WERE Mediterranean but they were the supposed predecessors.
Agree with Frederic. Mgmat SC books gives clear explanation of the difference between 'supposed' and 'supposedly'.
Supposedly is adverb and adverb modifies the verb, adjective or adverb. As a result, using supposedly before Mediteranean predecessors is wrong, because Supposed is modifying predecessors, not mediteranean.
D cannot be correct asnwer; A is correct.
Sorry, I meant B is correct answer. I mistyped A in previous post
I fully match with whatever thing you've presented.
Pretty helpful info, lots of thanks for this article.
